Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) has announced it plans to open new properties in Buckhead and Savannah next year. The properties, Thompson Buckhead and Thompson Savannah, are the first of the brand to enter the Georgia market.
Thompson Buckhead is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2021 and is to be located in Buckhead Village at 371 East Paces Ferry Road, the former headquarters of State Bank & Trust Co. Plans for the hotel were first announced in 2018 as an $80 million project by Atlanta-based Regent Partners LLC and The Loudermilk Cos.
The Buckhead hotel would offer a more residential setting with 201 guest rooms and 32 suites, according to a Hyatt press release. Dallas-based design firm Studio 11 and Hyatt are designing the new hotel “to offer the atmosphere of a private, luxury home,” the release says. Features are to include a three-meal restaurant, an indoor and outdoor rooftop bar, pool and lounge. The hotel is also slated to include more than 10,000 square feet of meeting spaces.
Thompson Savannah is also being developed by Regent Partners and is scheduled to open in the summer 2021 with 193 rooms. The hotel is being developed as part of the mixed-use Eastern Wharf project, adjacent to the city’s historic center and on the banks of the Savannah River. Studio 11 is the designer for the hotel that is planned to include a lobby bar and lounge, restaurant and rooftop bar, a pool deck with a lap pool, fire features and private daybeds and cabanas.
The new hotels continue Thompson’s expansion into the south with hotels under development in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, Texas.
