From Park to Parsonage to Port: The Hamilton Is Michael and Ruby Warren’s Savannah Paradise

When the Warrens settled into their Park Avenue apartment 15 years ago, they thought it would be their forever home. In some ways, it is. Since watching their two children marry and begin their own families in their own special homes, the Warrens have enjoyed this empty nest in the heart of New York City.

But it also wasn’t long before they began to crave a little variety—a summer escape. Three years into their Park chapter, they purchased a second home on Parsonage Lane in Sagaponack. The Shingle-style estate has proven a magical retreat, where the grandkids and dogs frolic in soft green grasses and the beach is in walking distance.

And yet, as they began to lean into retirement, Michael and Ruby recognized a desire to purchase one more vacation abode. They wanted a place where they could forget the heavy snows of winter and embrace more of a small-town Southern culture and character. The grandchildren—now 2, 5, 8, and 14 years old—love art and nature, as do their moms and dads. After some online exploration, it all brings the Warrens to Savannah, and then, to Upper East River. To be quite specific, it has landed them on Port Street, in The Hamilton.

The lock-and-leave aspect of these new condominiums in Upper East River combined with their preeminent riverfront location to create an environment the Warrens couldn’t pass up.

They love that they can remain in the heart of such a vibrant resort-style community mere moments away from downtown Savannah while still adjoining a peaceful waterway. There is a thriving creative scene and plenty of natural areas to explore for the grandkids. The Warrens’ grown children and their spouses love it too, for the world-class bars and restaurants. Date night, they quip, has never been better. Most importantly, Michael and Ruby adore their third home. They love their luxuriously appointed residence, the welcoming neighbors and amenities in their community, the swaying waters just beyond, and everything about Savannah. It is a delightful haven to which they escape, and not only because of the warm weather. The Hostess City has joined NYC and the Hamptons in their hearts.
