Spring is in the air! While those of us with Savannah homes are surely all lamenting the pollen dusting over cars, outdoor furnishings, clothes, and hair, none can deny the joyful splendor of this season’s blooms and warm breezes.
But that isn’t all spring is known for, of course. Historically the time for deep cleaning, the months of March through June can also be perfect for a decorating refresh. And the hottest happenings are more than underway!
Here are the spring decor trends we’re loving for Savannah homes …
#1. Pretty in Peach
While bright hues and loud motifs for spring are nothing new, there are a few shades and scenes in particular dominating in 2021.
Peachy pinks like Pantone’s Blush Beauty are everywhere. We mean everywhere, from Target’s clothing section to the workbenches of wedding florists. This vibrant color is undoubtedly in vogue! Paint an accent wall in a similar shade or source art that includes it.
#2. Organic Vibes: Brass and Rattan

Real Simple, Martha Stewart’s home and design magazine, is reporting that brass and rattan accents are going to continue gaining popularity this season and year.
Consider swapping out a chair or cabinet you don’t love for a rattan eye-catcher (we love this cabinet from Urban Outfitters), or make a statement in any space with a stunning brass mirror. CB2 has quite the selection, but if you’re looking for something a little more custom, we’d recommend having a chat with locally owned Ricks Glass Company.
#3. Art for Your Walls

Ah, this one makes us grin ear to ear. If you ask us, wallpaper is the ultimate class act of interior decor. And it’s BACK.
Order yourself a catalog from Phillip Jeffries or York Wallcoverings and start scouting out spots in your home where a little flair would be just right! We love the idea of wallpapering an entire powder bathroom or a single accent wall in the study.
If you’re a fiend for florals, Rifle Paper Co.’s collection with York Wallcoverings will surely speak your language.
#4. Get a Little Loud, With Pattern

Speaking of florals, they are in once again for spring! This year, the iteration certainly promises to be unique.
According to Who What Wear (don’t forget that fashion portends all trends!), the “kitschy” florals of the 1980s are having a major comeback on the runway and high street alike. We’d guess you’ll be seeing some similar fabrics and accents for the home in no time.
If you’re excited to feature a piece with such a pattern but aren’t sure how to make it work, consider making it your focal point and building nearby aesthetics around it. Since these patterns are rather loud, that will help you to avoid anything feeling too busy. Unless you like busy! Because after all, maximalism is ‘in’ too.
#5. Vintage and Velvet

Savannahians should be excited about this one, because we have so many incredible antique shops in the area. Picker Joe’s Antique Mall & Vintage Market and Victory Antiques & Collectibles are two of our favorite stops for the most fascinating finds.
The old and original are certainly of the moment again. From antique furnishings to displaying 100-year-old family photos, bringing the past back to attention in the home is a trend we think will be here to stay a while.
As a part of this resurgence, velvet is in the limelight. Big, jewel-toned chairs are the most noticeable way you’ll see this trend within the home, but a pillow or trinket box of the material can be a delightful addition too.
#6. Drink Trollies Meet Outdoor Living

The past year has reminded us all that while we love to go out, entertaining from home has its special perks. As a result, fancy bar carts and elegant, livable open-air furnishings continue to trend after having a strong few months already.
Design a stunning bar cart on the level of the home through which you can access a patio or terrace, for indoor-outdoor flexibility. Second, be sure your alfresco seating is plush enough and well-situated!
Here at Upper East River, we know we’ll definitely be taking advantage of that last trend, with our gorgeous Savannah River glistening just in view.
If you want to see what entertaining in the open air could look like this spring and summer in our neighborhood (which could still be yours), give us a shout and check out our Instagram.
